Many of you wanted to hear the story of how InfinityCraft came into existence, so here it is. Well it really all started when a build I had been working several days on was destroyed by an admin on a server, one which I had been a patron on for quite some time. The admin was mad that I built so close to him, so he turned the entire landscape for miles into netherack and lava. It just so happens that Oink_mR, known as OinkRider29 at the time, had built near me and had his land destroyed as well. I can actually reference the forum post where I complained about it on their site, but anyway I digress. That's what put the idea in my head to create my own server, but at the time I knew nothing about it obviously. So I continued to play the server, I still had several admin friends that didn't want me to leave. Me and Oink hit it off, and built several cities together and eventually decided we would make our own server, where people could build without risk of admin abuse, or griefers. We built a spawn, and played on the server and kept it locally hosted for a good 6 months or so, just playing with friends we had met through minecraft or other games. Eventually came the time when we decided to open it up to the public, so I purchased a server from provision and by this time I had another friend who had been playing for quite a while, seller748. So I figured out how to use a list of plugins, permissions and all that fun stuff, and we opened to the public and the rest is history. I've lost touch with Oink, and seller over the years but the server continues to run.
It is with a very heavy heart that I write these words. But after 2 years InfinityCraft is closing. I have always felt an obligation to continue running it, however I can do it no longer. I began running this server because I had a passion for minecraft, and I wanted to ensure everyone who shared that passion could build in a grief free environment. However last night through a series of issues, all files, including the map, was lost. I have lost my passion, and I will be beginning college soon. I will not have much time after that, and I feel that this is a sign I need to come to terms with it. I am very sad that it had to be decided at such an extreme event. I am sorry to go out in such a way, and I hope you do not leave infinitycraft with a bad taste in your mouths. I am very sorry to all of our loyal members. You have helped create this community, and I am grateful to have played a role in your lifes.
It is only through labor and painful effort, by grim energy and resolute courage, that we move on to better things.
The issues In Detail:
As you all know within the past day we have had some drastic issues with the server. The easiest way to describe this was that the server broke. It was necessary to transfer all files over to a new server, which I gave the go ahead on. After all files were transferred the server was still having issues. All files were someone entirely deleted at this time, leaving nothing. I felt at this point I needed to make a decision, start over from years of building up a solid platform, or shut down the server.
What happens now?
InfinityCraft is shutting down, as has been stated several times. However the GamersGrove will not disappear from the internet. I plan on continuing with this website and completely remodeling it as I had planned. Our forums will remain open, and I hope that you all will join us in conversation from time to time. I have hopes to some day transform the GamersGrove into something more than a minecraft server, and now I will have more time to do so.
The teamspeak will also remain up!
I hate you Frost!
I am sorry it has come to this, your patronage has been greatly appreciated and I am glad to have been a part of your life.
